Blog #31, Retrospective of my caravan blogs so far

To help you navigate in Cpdm, I above present an overview of the simplified and tailored Cpdm, which I uesed to support my development of the electronic expansion in my inherited caravan.

One of the biggest benefits of Cpdm, is that it can scale to support any size of target system, see blog #17 Simplifying Cpdm for smaller project. Since this electronic expansion is rather modest in size, two levels are sufficient. The process can also be tailored to a specific product to be developed, see blog #18 Tailoring the simplified Cpdm. First the environment outermost level at top of the above process schedule (level 0), which describes everything that surrounds the electronic expansion, and then the innermost level in the bottom of the above schedule (level 1), which describes what is inside the electronic expansion (the target system to be developed).

The process starts by exploring the environment restrictions in activity Pt.0.R., see blog #19 Capture restrictions in the caravan environment. The process continues by trying to satisfy the restrictions in Pt.0.P blog #20, and constitute the environment in Pt.0.A blog #21 and #22.

Here the process deviate inwards (downwards in the above process schedule) to Pt.1.R, see blog #23 Refine requirements from restrictions for the electronic expansion and blog #24 Capture new requirements for the electronic expansion to capture the requirements to the electronic expansion. Like at level 0, the activities follows to satisfy these requirements in Pt.1.R blog #26a to #26d, and to settle the electronic expansion architecture in Pt.1.A blog #28.

When trying to satisfy the electronic expansion requirements, some help was needed from study and acquire available samples in blog #25, and even some extra prototyping in Pt.1.P blog #27. After setting the architecture, the final design of the electronic expansion could be finalized in Pt.1.F blog 29a to #29c.

Now when the design of the electronic expansion is finalized, it gets possible to also finalize the electronic expansion to its environment in Pt.0.F, see blog #30 Finalize design of environment interfaces.

Now the activity is to integrate the electronic expansion into the caravan and later to test it, and that is made inwards out (again going downwards in the above schedule), by entering Pt.1.I. which will be presented in next blog, see blog #32 Inhouse development of turnkey items.

See you then !
