Blog 4. Foundation on swamp with a superstructure

There is no way for successful product development without a solid foundation!

In three blogs I have explained the critical foundation of CPDM through a metaphor where I discussed how to build a house in a swamp.

When preparing a good foundation, appearance of the product must also be considered. Most products are layered, or at least contain different parts, and the development model must support a flexible and efficient tool to handle this.

• With the exquisite features of CPDM, a house like the one in the picture is easy to build.
• All floors of the house need to be synchronized regarding pipes, wires stairs etc. going between the floors.
• Each floor requires a totally different competence, but all builders use and understand CPDM.
• Each technology competence can draw their part of one common architecture map.
• Each floor captures its requirements and tests these independent of each other.

An honest question to you: how many development models have you seen with such multi-technology support?
